Case Study 1
A was retaking her AS modules after achieving poor grades at her first sittings. She had not caught up on some missed lessons at college, and my assessment test showed that she had problems with some key concepts and diagrams from different parts of the AS course.

We worked our way through the syllabus, with regular checks of her understanding, and then practised exam techniques using past papers. After five weeks of tuition, A was ready for her resit – and was very happy with her improved grades!

Case Study 2
M, who was following a Joint Honours degree in Politics and Economics, was preparing for her University finals. She enjoyed the discursive aspects of Economics, but was having difficulty using diagrams and equations.

We did some initial work on different ways of representing economic ideas and relationships, and then looked at the specific diagrams and equations needed for the course.

After six hours of tuition, M sat her exams with confidence, and is now a successful University graduate!

I am a graduate of the London School of Economics, where I completed both my first degree and my Masters degree. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG. While I was studying for my Masters degree I worked as a class teacher, taking lessons and tutorials for LSE undergraduate students. I also gave private Economics tuition to A level students who were preparing for their exams. After completing my studies I worked for an academic publishing company, preparing teaching materials for courses in Economics and Finance. I subsequently worked for more than 12 years as a professional Economist at the Bank of England, including 4 years as one of the Bank’s regional representatives in West Midlands. I always enjoyed learning Economics and using it in my work, and this helps me to be a enthusiastic teacher!
